Today's busy 08.08am train from Dunfermline to Edinburgh broke down only minutes into its journey at Rosyth station. After several calls to the Chief Executive of First Scotrail by Jim Tolson, MSP for Dunfermline West, a replacement train eventually arrived to pick up the stranded passengers to take them in to Edinburgh via Glenrothes arriving at 11.40am, a delay of over 3 hours!
Jim Tolson commented:
"I was a commuter on this service along with hundreds of others. We understand that the services will be disrupted due to the snow and ice but the lack of reliable information to their customers is inexcusable in this day and age! First Scotrail need to ensure that their web site and station display screens give accurate and up to date information; this has not been the case on many occasions during this recent period of bad weather. This has caused major disruption to the journeys of thousands of commuters, school children sitting exams and people travelling further afield to other destinations.
"The staff on this morning's train did a good job looking after their customers, but the management of First Scotrail and Network Rail have to ensure that the service and information are efficient and reliable, even in adverse weather conditions!"
