Speaking ahead of Stage 3 of the Public Services Reform Bill, Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP called on the Tories to back his move to ban bonuses to quango Chief Executives for the next two years.
An amendment tabled by Mr Purvis would force quangos to review immediately their Chief Executives' pay package and conditions and make it illegal to pay bonuses to quangos chiefs for the next two years.
Commenting, Mr Purvis said:
"MSPs have a chance to vote against bumper bonuses for quango bosses.
"Last week, despite hand-wringing in their local papers about hotels and auction marts that will be hit by sudden increases in their rates bills, the Tories voted against a transitional rates relief scheme put forward by the Liberal Democrats.
"Publicly the Tories have been outraged by reports that some of Scotland's highest paid public servants will get a bonus. But when it comes to the crunch, will they vote to ban them?"
