Liberal Democrat Public Health spokesman Jamie Stone says that the slight increase in the percentage of people registered with an NHS dentist is not enough for the Government to rest on their laurels.
Jamie Stone said:
"There is a crisis in dental services, particularly in rural and remote areas.
"These figures show that there is still an unfortunate inequality in the level of service provided across Scotland. Rural areas such as the Borders and Grampian Health Boards are a long way short of meeting this target.
"It is hard to understand why more dentists aren't being trained and why the Aberdeen Dental School does not accept undergraduates.
"We should be training as many dentists as possible and targeting provision in areas where they are needed most."
"People in Scotland have an equal right to access NHS services including dentistry. No-one should be disadvantaged because of where they live."
